Jakarta (ANTARA) – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has expressed full support for four measures proposed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.”I fully support and appreciate the measures that have been established by the new leadership of the National Nutrition Agency,” Budi said while receiving BGN Head Nanik Sudaryati Deyang and her deputies, Agustina Arumsari and Major General Trenggono, at the Health Ministry headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday.During the meeting, Nanik outlined four initiatives aimed at restructuring the MBG program: refocusing beneficiary priorities, imposing a moratorium on the construction of new kitchens, improving the management of existing kitchens, and developing a new implementation scheme for the program in Indonesia's frontier, underdeveloped, and outermost regions (3T).”For the refocusing of beneficiaries, we need support from the Health Ministry because the future target groups of the MBG program will be pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers, which fall within the ministry's area of responsibility,” Nanik said. She added that cooperation between the Health Ministry and BGN would include data integration and program coordination. Budi said the ministry would deploy health and child nutrition experts to support the agency's efforts to improve the management of the program.”Whoever is selected, we will provide our best experts. The decision will be up to BGN,” he said.Nanik also emphasized that BGN's leadership now operates under a collective decision-making approach. As head of the agency, she said, she would not make major decisions without the approval of her two deputies.”I am merely the class leader. All decisions will be made collectively,” she remarked. She expressed appreciation for the support provided by Health Minister Budi and his ministry, adding that she hopes cooperation between the two institutions will continue to strengthen in support of preparing Indonesia's “Golden Generation 2045” vision.
