Food, energy security underpin Indonesia’s 2045 vision: BP BUMN

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, outlined three main pillars of the economic transformation being pursued by the government to lead Indonesia toward becoming a developed nation by 2045.”In a country undergoing transformation, there will certainly be responses, both positive and negative. However, what is most important is public understanding of the transformation process that is being fundamentally carried out by the government,” Oskaria said in a statement received here on Thursday. The three pillars are food security, energy security, and human resource strengthening. No country can develop sustainably without the ability to meet its own food needs, Oskaria noted. Therefore, the government has rolled out various programs, ranging from the development of new rice fields, the construction of irrigation networks, to reforms in fertilizer distribution. The government has strengthened policies on purchasing farmers' unhusked rice and expanding national food storage capacity through the state logistics agency (Bulog) to support the food self-sufficiency target.Meanwhile, to achieve energy security, the government is developing new and renewable energy sources, expanding the B50 biodiesel blend program, increasing national fuel reserve capacity, and exploring new energy resources.Regarding the third pillar, he said that President Prabowo Subianto has placed human development as a top priority because a developed nation can only be built by a healthy, educated, and productive population.”All developed and sustainable countries have strong and capable human resources. Therefore, the government sees stunting as a very fundamental issue. Our stunting rate currently stands at around 22 percent. This is a major challenge that we must overcome,” he said. Moreover, the government is building around 200 Sekolah Rakyat schools, developing excellence schools, and distributing smart boards to schools across the country to realize equitable education quality.
