Banda Aceh (ANTARA) – The Sumatra Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR Task Force) announced that Aceh Province will enter the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction phase in August 2026.Head of the PRR Task Force's Aceh Regional Post Safrizal ZA said on Friday that the new phase will officially begin at the end of July after the province completed the emergency alert, emergency response, and emergency response transition phases.”Aceh's post-disaster recovery is nearly complete, moving from the emergency response phase to rehabilitation and reconstruction. On July 30, a decision will be made to officially enter the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase,” he said.According to Safrizal, the government has identified several indicators to guide the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase following the disaster in Aceh Province.One of the key indicators is the full restoration of government administration in disaster-affected areas. While all government offices remain operational, several village offices have sustained severe damage.”For example, the government agencies in Aceh Tamiang District, which were severely impacted by the hydrometeorological disaster, have recovered. IPDN cadets were deployed to the area for two months to restore government infrastructure,” Safrizal said.Safrizal said public health services have also returned to normal, although some community health centers are temporarily operating from government office buildings while their facilities undergo rehabilitation.He added that educational services have likewise resumed, with teaching and learning activities continuing uninterrupted. However, damage to several school buildings has forced some students to use alternative facilities.A total of 3,120 schools were affected by the hydrometeorological disaster in Aceh, and 41 schools were relocated.Regarding land transportation, Safrizal said all roads are now functional and accessible. He added that further improvements to roads and bridges will continue during the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.”From an economic perspective, market activities have returned to normal. Of the 127 markets affected by the hydrometeorological disaster, almost all have resumed operations. This means that community economic activity has returned to normal, although not yet fully recovered,” he continued.He said the current priority is accelerating the construction of permanent housing, which has reached 4.9 percent completion, with 401 of the targeted 37,373 units already built.”Around Rp2 trillion (US$108 million) has been allocated this year for the first phase of permanent housing construction. The government is building both communal and in-situ housing, with all projects required to be located in safe areas,” Safrizal said.
