We are choosing both,Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto said the State Budget deficit remained under control at 0.91 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) through the end of July 2026, despite strong growth in state spending.Delivering the government statement on the Bill on the 2027 State Budget and its Financial Note at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday, the President said fiscal discipline had been maintained alongside increased social spending.”Despite the growth in state spending, the State Budget deficit remained at just 0.91 percent of gross domestic product. This is proof that siding with the people can go hand in hand with fiscal discipline,” President Prabowo said.He noted that by the end of July 2026, state revenue had grown 21.3 percent year-on-year, outpacing state spending, which increased 18.2 percent over the same period.The increase in central government spending was allocated to maintaining public purchasing power and supporting various strategic programs, including the free nutritious meals (MBG) program, social assistance distribution, infrastructure, holiday allowances (THR), and energy subsidies.”We are not choosing between growth and prudence. We are choosing both,” the President added.According to figures from the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), state revenue reached Rp1,459.4 trillion (US$81.87 billion) by the end of the second quarter of 2026, marking annual growth of 21.4 percent.Meanwhile, total state expenditure reached Rp1,656.0 trillion (US$92.90 billion), an increase of 17.8 percent, driven by central government expenditure, which grew 29.4 percent to Rp1,298.6 trillion (US$72.85 billion).
