Jakarta (ANTARA) – Around 121,000 tickets for the Whoosh high-speed train have been sold for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season, according to operator PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).General Manager Corporate Secretary of PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa noted that the sold tickets are for departures between March 13 and 30.”As of now, around 121,000 tickets have been sold for departures between March 13 and 30,” she told ANTARA at the KCIC Halim Station in East Jakarta on Wednesday.Chairunisa also explained that ticket sales are expected to continue rising, as the booking period remains open to maximize services during the Eid holiday season.She noted that this projection is based on the typical behavior of Whoosh passengers, who tend to book tickets closer to their travel dates, specifically on the day before Eid al-Fitr.”Whoosh passengers commonly buy their tickets on the same day they travel. Therefore, we usually see a sharp increase on the actual day of departure. Based on previous years, the peak surge typically occurs a day before Eid,” she explained.According to her, the very short travel time using Whoosh allows people to manage their trips efficiently. This convenience is expected to lead to a very significant spike in passenger numbers.”We expect a significant surge in passengers on the first day of Eid until the end of the holiday season because with Whoosh, the travel time is only between 30 minutes and 40 minutes,” she remarked.Earlier, the Ministry of Transportation announced that 143.9 million people are projected to travel during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr travel season by using various transportation modes.This figure is based on a survey conducted by the ministry to identify travel preferences and gauge the public's intent to travel.
