Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) – Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf and United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al-Dhaheri agreed to establish a joint team to facilitate investment, trade, and aviation cooperation.The agreement was reached during a meeting at the UAE ambassador’s residence in Jakarta on Monday.“Governor Manaf and the UAE ambassador agreed to form an investment team, which is expected to begin operations in May,” Aceh provincial government spokesperson Nurlis Effendi said in a statement issued in Banda Aceh on Tuesday.Effendi said the governor outlined a range of investment opportunities in Aceh, including oil, gas, mining, and palm oil refining for cooking oil production.Manaf also highlighted Aceh’s export potential for agricultural commodities to the UAE, such as patchouli and agarwood, key raw materials for perfumes widely used in the Arab world.He further presented various coconut-based products with strong demand in Middle Eastern markets, including coconut oil, coconut flour, charcoal briquettes, and coconut fiber.“The governor also highlighted renewable biomass energy opportunities, including wood pellets and activated carbon derived from coconut and palm kernel shells for industrial use,” Effendi said.According to the spokesperson, the UAE ambassador welcomed the proposal to strengthen investment and trade cooperation.Major airlines Emirates and Etihad Airways are also considering opening representative offices and launching routes connecting Aceh with the UAE and Saudi Arabia, particularly to serve Umrah pilgrims from the province.Ambassador Al-Dhaheri also expressed the UAE’s intention to support post-disaster reconstruction in Aceh, focusing on housing development, agricultural land restoration, and road infrastructure.“The ambassador also reaffirmed Mubadala Energy’s plan to develop a shorebase logistics facility to support exploration in the Andaman block in Aceh,” Effendi added.
