Bali Police name two Brazilians as suspects in Dutch man’s killing

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – Bali police have named two foreign nationals, believed to be from Brazil, as suspects in the fatal stabbing of a Dutch man in Badung District, and said both have fled Indonesia.The suspects were identified as Darlan Bruno Lima San Ana, 34, and Kalil Hyorran, 32, both male foreign nationals, Bali police said on Saturday.“Based on scientific evidence, we identified the perpetrators and confirmed they are foreign nationals,” said Senior Commissioner I Gede Adhi Muliawarman, director of general criminal investigation at Bali Police, at a press conference.The victim, a 49-year-old Dutch national identified by the initials RP, was fatally stabbed at Villa Amira No. 1 in Kerobokan, North Kuta, Badung, on Monday evening (March 23).Police said the attack occurred at around 10:00 p.m. as the victim was walking toward the villa with a female companion.Two men riding a black motorcycle approached and immediately attacked the victim with a sharp weapon.Muliawarman said the victim died from multiple stab wounds inflicted to the neck, left cheek and other parts of the body.“The perpetrators stabbed the victim repeatedly, causing fatal injuries,” he said.Following the incident, a joint team from Bali Police and Badung Police launched an investigation, including a crime scene examination and analysis of CCTV footage from several locations.The footage was reviewed from before, during and after the attack to trace the suspects’ movements.Police also questioned the owner of the motorcycle rented by the suspects as part of the probe.“From CCTV analysis, we obtained images strongly indicating the identities of the perpetrators,” Muliawarman said.Investigators combined the footage with witness statements, field evidence and technology-based analysis to identify the suspects.Police have coordinated with relevant agencies to track the suspects’ whereabouts and confirmed both left Indonesia shortly after the attack.“The suspects departed Indonesia on March 24,” he said.Authorities have charged the suspects under Article 459 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.Police have also requested Interpol to issue a Red Notice and listed the suspects on a national wanted list through the National Police’s international relations division.“We have submitted requests for international assistance to locate and apprehend the suspects,” Muliawarman said.
