Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that 1,361 tons of logistical aid have been distributed to flood- and landslide-hit provinces in Sumatra, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.”Logistics received at the national command post have reached 1,370 tons, with 1,361 tons of them having been delivered to the affected regions,” head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said in a press conference monitored online on Thursday.He explained that on December 25, 37.4 tons of logistics were distributed in Aceh Province, all of which were sent by air to reach areas that remain inaccessible by land.Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, 8.7 tons of aid were distributed via land routes as the main access roads have reopened. In West Sumatra, 6.1 tons of logistics were successfully delivered by land.”A buffer stock of over six tons remains available and is ready for immediate distribution if needed,” he said.Muhari ensured that logistical aid, ranging from basic necessities to evacuation equipment, would continue to be increased based on the needs on the ground.BNPB is optimistic that through cooperation among ministries, agencies, regional governments, and communities will ensure the continuity of aid distribution.According to BNPB records as of Thursday, the death toll from floods and landslides in the three Sumatra provinces has reached 1,135, comprising 503 fatalities in Aceh, 371 in North Sumatra, and 261 in West Sumatra.Meanwhile, the total number of missing persons stood at 173. The disasters displaced 489,864 residents, including 466,667 in Aceh, 13,262 in North Sumatra, and 9,935 in West Sumatra.
