Central Papua allocates Rp388 bln to build government center

Nabire, Central Papua (ANTARA) – The Central Papua Provincial Government has allocated a budget of Rp388 billion, or around US$22.5 million, in the 2026 Regional Budget (APBD) for a government center development in the Kaladiri area, Nabire District, Central Papua.Head of the Central Papua Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) Yulianus Manuel Mambrasar in Nabire on Wednesday said that construction has now entered the foundation drilling stage for three main towers.“Referring to the schedule, we are now in the drilling stage for the foundation of the main buildings, namely the three towers,” he said.He explained that the government center is designed as an iconic building of Central Papua, consisting of three main towers, namely the Governor’s Office, the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) Office, and the Central Papua Regional House of Representatives (DPRP) Office.According to him, the construction uses a design-and-build system, where planning and construction are carried out simultaneously, unlike the conventional contract method. This construction system is similar to that applied in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project, and therefore requires integrated planning and implementation.“The responsibility is quite heavy because it must be on budget and on time; it cannot exceed the fiscal year and there must be no additional budget,” he said. The provincial government, he added, is committed to completing the construction of the three main towers by the end of 2026 in line with the set target. The Central Papua government center is being built on an area of around 300 hectares and is expected to become the province's administrative hub.“We are pushing to complete this government center so that the administration of Central Papua can run optimally,” he said.
