Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Ministry is helping seven disaster-affected businesses from North Sumatra recover by joining the Indonesia Coffee Expo (ICX) Medan 2026 to expand market access.The initiative is part of the government’s “MSMEs Rise” program, Deputy for Medium Enterprises Bagus Rachman said in a statement released on Friday.”The ministry is encouraging these entrepreneurs to reconnect with markets, expand networks, establish partnerships and improve product competitiveness,” Rachman said.The exhibition allows coffee entrepreneurs to showcase products to potential buyers, business partners and major players in the national coffee industry, he added.Rachman said MSME recovery after disasters must extend beyond emergency assistance through targeted programs that can sustainably restore business operations.He said coffee is a strategic, high-value industry that creates opportunities throughout the supply chain, from farming and processing to downstream businesses such as roasteries and coffee shops.Strengthening the sector is crucial to improving MSME capabilities and supporting regional economic growth, he added.ICX Medan 2026, held from July 31 to Aug. 2 at the Tiara Convention Center in Medan, North Sumatra, features 54 exhibitors.Participants include MSMEs, coffee farmers, roasters, coffee shops, equipment suppliers and other supporting businesses across the coffee industry.The expo also offers capacity-building programs, including the Local Farmer Access Program, coffee cupping sessions, industry education programs and the Indonesia Brewers Cup Regional 3 competition.North Sumatra was among three provinces affected by major flash floods and landslides in late November 2025.
