Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi stated that the government must be present to ensure that every child can get their rights, including their right to a proper and safe education.She made this statement following the death case of a student with the initials MRS at a Public Vocational High School (SMKN) in Samarinda.”This incident is a serious concern, and therefore needs to be thoroughly evaluated,” the minister said here on Monday.She said that ministries/institutions need to investigate the root cause, starting from population administration which can cause families not to be registered in National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN), to access to social assistance programs.”The Ministry of PPPA will coordinate with relevant ministries and institutions to ensure targeted social protection programs for children,” said Arifah Fauzi.The ministry also expressed its deepest condolences to MRS.”This case is heartbreaking, as there are still Indonesian children struggling with limited resources to obtain their right to education. Despite his family's dire economic situation, MRS continued to demonstrate his enthusiasm for continuing his education,” the minister said.”This spirit reflects his resilience in pursuing his dreams, even though he ultimately died,” she added.Previously, MRS (16), a student at a public vocational school in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, complained of pain in his feet because his shoes were too small. The pain then spread to his waist and back.MRS's condition worsened, as evidenced by his swollen feet. Despite his illness, MRS continued to attend school and completed an internship at a shopping center in Samarinda.MRS was born into a low-income family. On Thursday (April 23), his condition worsened and he was unable to carry out normal activities. MRS died at home on Friday (April 24).
