Indonesia builds digital infrastructure to boost economy

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said the government is developing impactful digital infrastructure aimed at bolstering the national economic transformation.“President Prabowo Subianto often reminds us that strengthening infrastructure is equivalent to strengthening the backbone of economic transformation. And of course, it must be impactful infrastructure,” he said here on Thursday. He conveyed this statement at the Indonesia Digital Finance Economy Festival (FEKDI) & Indonesia Fintech Summit and Expo (IFSE) 2025 in Jakarta. On the same occasion, he emphasized the importance of improving governance in the context of cybersecurity.According to him, cybercrime is one of the military and non-military threats globally, which can be carried out by state or non-state actors. He noted that many people have the capability to penetrate, damage, and disrupt cyber and digital economic systems, including in Indonesia, he said.“We must remain vigilant and prepare effective mitigation measures,” he added.Beyond digital infrastructure preparation, the minister also highlighted the urgency of improving digital and financial literacy among the public. He noted that Indonesia has 70 percent of its productive population as young people with good technological literacy.“This must be accompanied by an understanding of the digital economy, especially for those who may not yet be familiar with its benefits,” he said.He expressed hope that strengthening Indonesia’s digital economy sector will widen opportunities for human resources in the country.Yudhoyono also urged that the principle of inclusivity should underlie policy-making and program implementation.“In our minds, in making policies, in running priority programs, we must always adhere to the principle that no one and no region is left behind,” he concluded.
