Indonesia expects 3.5 mln vehicles on Tangerang-Merak Toll for Eid

Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s toll road operator PT Marga Mandalasakti (MMS) expects 3.5 million vehicles to travel along the Tangerang–Merak Toll Road during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, an increase from 3.4 million last year. “We predict that around 3.5 million vehicles will pass through the Tangerang–Merak Toll Road,” Head of CSR Management and Public Relations at Astra Toll Tangerang–Merak PT MMS Uswatun Hasanah, Tuesday. She noted traffic volume is projected to rise by 2.5 to 2.8 percent compared with 2025. Peak traffic is forecast for March 18–19, with March 19 expected to be the busiest day as most vehicles head toward Merak Port. From March 11–16, a total of 248,575 vehicles entered the toll road, averaging 52,432 per day. This represented a 4.92 percent decrease compared with the same period last year, but 4.36 percent above normal daily averages. Traffic exiting at Merak Toll Gate reached 66,016 vehicles between March 11–16, including 13,717 on March 16 alone. While that figure marked a 19.41 percent drop compared with 2025, it was 57.29 percent higher than normal daily traffic. Authorities said traffic management measures will remain in place to accommodate the surge as millions of travelers leave Greater Jakarta for Sumatra during the holiday season.
