Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the Indonesian government will continue several strategic programs, including food assistance and holiday travel discounts, during the second half of 2026.At a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, Airlangga said the food assistance program, which provides 10-kilogram rice packages, will target 33.24 million beneficiaries.For the school holiday and year-end travel discount program, the package includes a 30 percent discount on sea transportation, waived port charges, and government-borne Value Added Tax (VAT) on economy-class airline tickets.In addition, he said the National Internship Program will continue to be expanded, targeting 150,000 Generation Z participants for six-month internships, after which they may choose to work for their host companies or seek employment elsewhere.Based on the latest program evaluation, 60 percent of participants were hired by the companies where they completed their internships.”During the internship, participants continue to receive a stipend from the government,” Airlangga said.The government will also launch a vocational training program for young people. President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the government to provide training for 250,000 students.In the tourism sector, the government is rolling out programs across 33 destinations to attract 178,000 foreign tourists while supporting major international events, including the Mandalika MotoGP and the Borobudur Marathon.Airlangga said he had discussed the initiative with Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana to maximize the tourism impact of those events.He also noted that during a recent visit by Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on regional flight services operated by TransNusa, connecting Bangkok with Jakarta and Phuket with Denpasar, a move expected to boost foreign tourist arrivals.”Earlier, the President also discussed opening direct flights from Belarus to destinations in Indonesia,” the minister added.
