This is not only about creativity, but also about generating economic value, especially in the digital space,Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar is encouraging the development of Indonesia’s custom automotive industry, citing its strong export potential.“We need to better understand this emerging industry—at the local, national, and export levels—so we can create added value for global markets,” Irene said on Saturday.During a visit to automotive creative industry players at Motovillage, Jakarta, on Friday (April 24), she emphasized the importance of understanding industry needs, including the export opportunities already being tapped by local businesses in various countries.Irene also highlighted the role of the content creator subsector in supporting the promotion of the automotive industry, which she believes can be an effective medium for introducing Indonesia’s potential to the international market.Furthermore, the use of digital technology is seen as opening new opportunities for businesses, not only through physical products but also through the development of digital assets with economic value.“When it comes to digital assets, we are not just experimenting—we aim to commercialize them. This is not only about creativity, but also about generating economic value, especially in the digital space,” she said.The government, she added, aims to build stronger synergy with industry players so the custom automotive sector can grow as part of a globally competitive creative economy ecosystem.Meanwhile, Motovillage is known as a hub for motorcycle and automotive communities, offering facilities ranging from showrooms and workshops to creative spaces that support the broader industry ecosystem.Motovillage founder Umar Lubis welcomed the government’s attention and expressed hope that it would help expand the network of Indonesia’s automotive creative industry.“We hope there will soon be concrete support for the automotive creative industry in Indonesia. We are ready to serve as a hub to help drive that growth,” Lubis said.
