Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa stated that wellness tourism has become one of the ministry’s priority programs to increase tourist arrivals to Indonesia and, therefore, support the national economy.“The Ministry of Tourism has included wellness tourism as part of our priority programs,” she said when met here on Saturday.She added that wellness tourism is part of quality tourism, and the ministry has continued to encourage more events and support the development of industries engaged in the wellness sector.So far, Indonesia has several cities that serve as wellness tourism destinations, namely Bali, Yogyakarta, and Solo.She expressed hope that the development of wellness tourism can expand to other destinations while highlighting the uniqueness of local cultures as a key attraction.While attending the 8th Saka Yoga Festival on Saturday morning, part of the Dharma Santi Nasional celebration and the 2026 Nyepi Day series, she noted that yoga is one of the main attractions of wellness and spiritual tourism.The event is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global destination for wellness and spiritual tourism.“Hopefully, more activities like this can be held in Indonesia, so we can further strengthen our position as a wellness and spiritual tourism destination, which is becoming a growing trend among global travelers,” she explained.On the same occasion, Deputy for Sports Industry Development at the Youth and Sports Ministry, Suyadi Pawiro, praised the event and encouraged more yoga events to be held across Indonesia.“We want to encourage more yoga events in many locations. I also recalled that yoga has even been held at the National Museum,” he said.
