Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has proposed raising the target for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) disbursement to Rp2,000 trillion from the current level of around Rp1,500 trillion.”This is an additional task for Mr. Maman (the MSME Minister). Hopefully it can be raised to Rp2,000 trillion,” Hartarto said at the 2026 MSME Finance Summit here on Tuesday. As of June 2026, outstanding MSME credit stood at Rp1,519.1 trillion, growing around 1.05 percent year-on-year (yoy), up from 0.60 percent (yoy) in May 2026.Meanwhile, based on the latest 2026 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) released by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Indonesia's financial inclusion index rose from 92.74 percent in 2025 to 93.61 percent in 2026.The national financial literacy index also rose, to 69.57 percent.”So they are already literate, already included. They have bank accounts, but their ability to understand financial information, invest, and so on, is what we are pursuing next,” Hartarto said.According to him, the higher credit target is expected to broaden access to financing, particularly for businesses that remain underserved or have yet to secure financing on an adequate scale. The move is considered important for closing the financing gap facing MSMEs with the potential to grow and scale up.Speaking to reporters after the event, Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman said his ministry would prepare various scenarios to achieve the target proposed by Hartarto.”There was some encouragement from the minister. We will try to prepare several scenarios,” Abdurrahman said.Meanwhile, OJK Board of Commissioners Chairperson Friderica Widyasari Dewi said the authority has made strengthening the MSME ecosystem and financing a key priority.”We provide extensive support for MSMEs and are directing the entire industry to support MSMEs in Indonesia,” she said.According to her, the policy is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directive, which strongly supports the financial services sector's alignment with and provides greater support for MSMEs in Indonesia.
