Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia, along with several other countries, strongly condemned a series of Israeli decisions expanding its unlawful control over the West Bank, as conveyed in a joint statement by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu).According to the joint statement posted on the official X account @Kemlu_RI, which was monitored online in Jakarta on Tuesday, the decision to reclassify Palestinian land as Israeli “state land” accelerates illegal settlement activity and further strengthens Israeli administration.”We are clear that Israel's illegal settlements, and decisions designed to further them, are a flagrant violation of international law, including previous United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the 2004 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice,” the statement quoted. The countries also issuing the statement were Palestine, Brazil, France, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Egypt, Jordan, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).The statement said the recent decision shows a deliberate attempt to change realities on the ground to advance an unacceptable de facto annexation while weakening initiatives for regional peace and stability, including the 20-Point Plan for Gaza, and jeopardizing prospects for meaningful regional integration.”We call on the Government of Israel to reverse them immediately, to respect its international obligations, and to refrain from actions that would result in permanent changes to the legal and administrative status of the occupied Palestinian Territory,” the statement said. The statement stated that the approval of the E1 project and the publication of the tender for the project constitute a deliberate and direct attack on the viability of the State of Palestine and the implementation of the Two-State Solution. In that context, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their rejection of all actions aimed at changing the demographic composition, character, and status of the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, and opposed any form of annexation.”We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East on the basis of the Two-State Solution, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions, based on the 4 June 1967 lines,” the statement quoted. The statement emphasized that resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is vital to achieving peace, stability, and regional integration, as outlined in the New York Declaration. It stressed that coexistence in the region depends on the creation of an independent, sovereign, and democratic State of Palestine. The statement also urged Israel to cease violence against Palestinians by holding perpetrators accountable and reaffirmed its commitment to taking concrete steps in accordance with international law to counter illegal settlement expansion, forced evictions, and annexation.Furthermore, the statement condemned repeated violations of the status quo in Jerusalem that pose a threat to regional stability, emphasized the importance of preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, and recognized the special role of the Hashemite custodianship. The ministers also called on Israel to immediately transfer tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority in accordance with the Paris Protocol, emphasizing the critical importance of providing basic services to the Palestinian population in Gaza and the West Bank, according to the statement.
