Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia will continue reciprocal tariff negotiations with the United States next week, Trade Minister Budi Santoso confirmed.“Next week, yes. The next round of negotiations will be scheduled,” Santoso said in Jakarta on Friday. However, the exact date of the talks has yet to be confirmed. The minister explained that the negotiations are not held daily, as the United States is also conducting similar discussions with other countries.Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the reciprocal tariff negotiations with the United States are in their finalization stage, awaiting approval from President Prabowo Subianto and U.S. President Donald Trump.“Now, the finalization of the agreement with the U.S.—the principle agreement has been approved by President Prabowo and President Trump,” Hartarto said.He added that the legal drafting of the agreement is currently underway and expressed hope that the process will proceed smoothly.According to Hartarto, commodities exempted from tariff policies will include those produced in Indonesia but not cultivated in the United States, and vice versa.“Vice versa—so, for example, palm, cocoa, and chocolate. They will be given zero tariffs,” he said. The United States had previously imposed a 19 percent reciprocal tariff on Indonesian products, reduced from the initial 32 percent. Both countries agreed on the 19 percent rate following a phone call between President Subianto and President Trump to discuss the issue.
