Indonesia’s Prabowo urges stronger BIMP-EAGA cooperation

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto called for stronger regional cooperation to address global challenges at the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Special Summit in Cebu, the Philippines, on Thursday.According to the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo emphasized the need for more adaptive and impactful cooperation, particularly in energy and food security.He also thanked Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his hospitality and leadership.”This special summit comes at a very critical time. The challenges we are facing have prompted tighter and more effective collaboration among us,” Prabowo remarked.He stressed that BIMP-EAGA must continue evolving to better address the needs of people in the sub-region.”BIMP-EAGA must become more adaptive, impactful, and responsive to our people’s needs,” he said.Prabowo also highlighted the importance of implementing the BIMP-EAGA 2035 Vision.”Our priority is clear: protecting the safety and livelihoods of our peoples. The BIMP-EAGA 2035 Vision has given us clear direction. Our task now is to turn it into reality,” he said.He also underscored solidarity and regional cooperation as key to navigating increasingly complex global dynamics.The summit marked the start of Prabowo's agenda in the Philippines ahead of the 48th ASEAN Summit.
