Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung assured the public here on Sunday that regional tax services will continue to operate normally after a major fire engulfed the upper floors of the Jakarta Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building.The blaze broke out late Friday (August 7) at approximately 9:30 p.m. local time (GMT+7), ravaging the 11th through 16th floors of the building. Local authorities deployed 40 fire engines and 200 firefighters to contain the flames at the 30,417-square-meter facility.Despite the extensive damage, Pramono emphasized that all administrative and revenue collection systems remain secure.”There is absolutely no issue concerning tax data, as it has been fully digitized,” he said.He noted that the agency's robust digital infrastructure means it no longer relies on the physical condition of the building or paper documents stored there, ensuring the seamless continuity of tax collection and other financial services.”Therefore, Bapenda's tax collection and other administrative functions will not be disrupted,” he added.In addition to the fire department, authorities deployed 125 police officers and 50 military personnel to secure the perimeter.The multi-story building also houses several other regional agencies, including the Jakarta Transportation Office and the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM).The governor said the daily operations of approximately 1,000 civil servants stationed in the building will be temporarily relocated to ensure that public services remain fully uninterrupted.
