Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Transportation has urged travelers to use the work from anywhere (WFA) policy in arranging their return travel to the Greater Jakarta area as the peak of the return flow is predicted to occur on March 24.“(State toll road operator) Jasa Marga has predicted that on March 24, around 285,000 vehicles will return to Greater Jakarta via toll roads. We urge the public to utilize the WFA period so they can return on March 25, 26, or 27,” the ministry's Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said here on Monday.He stated that the WFA policy applies to those working in the government and state-owned enterprise (SOE) sectors, and it is also encouraged to be implemented in the private sector.“We hope private companies will provide flexibility for their employees to take advantage of WFA in planning their return schedules,” he said.According to him, this needs collective attention given the surge in vehicle numbers during the recent peak of the homecoming flow. The aim is to ensure comfort for road users and prevent massive traffic buildup.He noted that based on Jasa Marga data, as of March 22, at 2 p.m. local time, 39.9 percent of vehicles had entered Jakarta from the total projected 3.4 million vehicles. The figure was recorded at four main toll gates: Cikupa, Ciawi, Cikatama, and Kalihurip Utama.“We also remind the public to make proper use of rest areas. Limit stops to a maximum of 30 minutes so others can use them, or consider resting at facilities outside the toll roads,” Suhanan said.He also emphasized that travelers should not stop on toll road sides as it is highly dangerous, can lead to traffic accidents, and worsen congestion.
