Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is taking action with the state electricity company PT PLN to address power supply issues after Jakarta faced two blackouts this month.”I have coordinated the matter and the team from the Directorate General of Energy Power is looking for the blackout cause,” Deputy Minister Yuliot stated on Friday. The ministry team has been dispatched to electrical facilities to determine the specific technical cause of the recent power failures in the capital. He also said that the authorities cannot rule out the blackout being caused by installation replacement works in several substations.Jakarta recorded its second blackout in a month on Thursday morning with affected regions including office areas in Central, South, and East Jakarta. The Indonesian capital also suffered from a blackout on April 9 which temporarily affected services at some stations on the Jakarta MRT system.PT PLN responded to the blackout promptly by deploying engineers to restore the electrical supply in all affected regions. The company said the recovery process took place in phases as engineers needed to ensure system stability before fully restoring the supply. The state electricity company also said that the blackout may be related to system disruption in some of their substations.
