Pertamina, ERIA team up on Indonesia’s energy transition

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s state energy company Pertamina has partnered with Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia to support the country’s energy transition and energy self-sufficiency goals.“Energy independence and transition are being pursued simultaneously by Pertamina under our Dual Growth Strategy,” Pertamina's Director of Strategy, Portfolio and Business Development Emma Sri Martini said in a statement on Sunday.Martini said Pertamina remains committed to supporting government efforts to strengthen national energy security while accelerating the transition toward cleaner energy. She added that the company would continue expanding its capabilities through collaboration with stakeholders, including research institutions and international think tanks.According to Martini, Pertamina is implementing a two-pronged strategy focused on optimizing its fossil fuel business while accelerating low-carbon energy development. To support the effort, Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding with ERIA covering policy and economic research, capacity building and knowledge transfer in the energy sector.Martini said the cooperation would be carried out through Pertamina Energy Institute, the company’s strategic research and policy arm.“Through this partnership, Pertamina will gain support through research-based policy studies, energy economic analysis and institutional capacity development aligned with our long-term strategy,” she said. She added that the partnership is expected to strengthen Pertamina’s regional position as global energy transition initiatives continue to evolve.“Collaboration with international stakeholders, including think tanks, will strengthen the capacity of all parties involved,” Martini said.
