Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto on Wednesday to review cooperation on technology and rare earth minerals, while discussing workforce development to support strategic industries.Speaking to reporters at Prabowo's private residence in Hambalang, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the president sought updates on preparations for Indonesia's workforce, including ongoing education and training programs to support strategic sectors. Prasetyo, who also serves as presidential spokesperson, said he attended several meetings and limited cabinet discussions chaired by Prabowo, including talks on rare earth minerals.During the meeting, Brian, who also heads the Mineral Industry Agency, was invited to provide an update on cooperation initiatives related to the development of Indonesia's rare earth mineral sector.Rare earth elements are strategic commodities widely used in defense industries, including components for fighter aircraft engines, missile systems and commercial aircraft engines.The minerals are also essential for electronic products such as underwater detection systems, missile defense equipment, tracking devices, communications technology and satellite power-generation systems.President Prabowo has repeatedly invited foreign investment in Indonesia's rare earth exploration and processing industries.
