Jakarta (ANTARA) – Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono stated that President Prabowo Subianto is targeting around 30,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives to be operational by July 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen the village economy.“The president wants approximately 30,000 physical warehouses, outlets, and the necessary facilities for these Red and White Village Cooperatives to be ready for operation,” he said during a National Coordination Meeting of the Ministry of Cooperatives in Jakarta on Wednesday.He noted that President Prabowo envisions that once these 30,000 Red and White Cooperatives are established and operational, they will represent the largest network of cooperatives in the world.Juliantono affirmed that the physical construction of the village cooperatives continues to run across various regions in Indonesia.According to him, 37,327 cooperatives are currently under construction, with 8,927 of them already 100 percent complete.He added that the government will symbolically inaugurate the operations of 1,061 Red and White Village Cooperatives on May 16, 2026, in Nganjuk district, East Java.These cooperatives consist of Red and White Village Cooperatives in Central Java and East Java that are considered ready for operation.He further said that the government will hold another inauguration event after the 30,000-unit target is achieved.Beyond the physical construction, the minister stated that the government is currently preparing a presidential instruction regarding the operations of the Red and White Village Cooperatives to serve as the program's legal basis.The instruction is targeted for issuance before the May 16 inauguration.The Indonesian government initiated the Red and White Village Cooperatives as hubs of economic and social services in village communities, offering savings, loans, and clinic services, among others.With more than 80,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives institutionally established nationwide, the Ministry of Cooperatives is accelerating the construction of outlets, warehouses, and supporting infrastructure to ensure operational readiness.
