Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto paid his respects and offered final condolences to three Indonesian soldiers killed while serving on a UNIFIL peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, during a lying-in-state ceremony at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday evening.At the VVIP building of Terminal 3, the president honored Major (posthumous) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Chief Sergeant (posthumous) Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Second Corporal (posthumous) Farizal Rhomadhon.During the ceremony, the coffins of the three soldiers were draped in the Indonesian flag.Photographs of each soldier, set against the United Nations emblem, were displayed alongside floral wreaths, while uniformed personnel stood in formation and family members sat in front of the coffins.Rows of relatives and state officials attended the memorial service, filling both sides of the hall.Upon arrival, Prabowo first approached Rhomadhon’s coffin, offering condolences to the soldier’s wife and mother.He consoled them with a brief gesture before paying his respects.The president then repeated the same gesture at the coffins of Zulmi and Ichwan, extending condolences to their families.Throughout the ceremony, Prabowo was accompanied by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto.Following the tribute, the coffins were carried for a formal release ceremony led by Indonesian Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak.During the ceremony, the remains of the three soldiers were officially handed over for burial in their respective hometowns.Authorities said the repatriation was conducted with full military honors in recognition of their service.The soldiers were killed in separate incidents in southern Lebanon while serving under the UN peacekeeping mission.Indonesia has since called for investigations into attacks affecting its personnel.Two Indonesian Air Force aircraft, a CN-295 and a C-130J, were prepared at the airport to transport the bodies.The remains were scheduled to be flown to Bandung and Yogyakarta for burial.Officials said the ceremony reflected Indonesia’s commitment to honoring its peacekeepers.The government also reiterated its support for UN peacekeeping operations abroad.The fallen soldiers were posthumously promoted in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
