Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto urged Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto to accelerate the use of micro-scale waste processing technologies currently developed by several universities.During a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, Yuliarto presented several micro-scale treatment technologies to the president.”He specifically requested the acceleration of several micro-scale waste processing technologies developed by various universities,” the minister told the press at the Presidential Palace complex following the meeting. He explained that the ministry will expedite the development phases, including testing these technologies, so that micro-scale waste processing can be implemented soon.Minister Yuliarto targets these trials to be conducted in several villages within this year.”We discussed several technologies and will make a selection soon. Some will also be implemented in collaboration with Danantara (sovereign wealth fund), so that waste management can operate more effectively at the micro level in villages,” he remarked. Some of these technologies utilize gasification, plasma-assisted methods, and cold plasma reactors.”We will evaluate further to determine which one is most effective,” he added. The minister further said that the technologies will be designed to process up to 10 tons of waste daily, as the average waste generated at the village level reaches 10 tons per day.He expressed hope that the successful adoption of the technologies will lead to a reduced amount of waste transported to landfills, as household waste will be fully processed at the village level. He affirmed that his ministry will also collaborate with the Ministry of Environment to ensure the technologies that will be used will not pose negative impacts on the environment.
