QRIS reaches 65.77 mln users, accepted by 44.86 mln merchants: BI

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded 65.77 million QRIS users as of June 2026, with the payment system accepted by 44.86 million merchants, 96.68 percent of them being Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).BI believes the expansion of QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) allows easier transactions while also helping MSMEs become more integrated into the digital economy and financial ecosystem.”QRIS has become the main gateway, the entry point, for MSMEs into the digital financial ecosystem,” BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta said in Jakarta on Friday. She mentioned that digital transformation is becoming increasingly important for boosting productivity, expanding market access, and helping MSMEs move up the value chain amid the rapid growth of the digital economy. To this end, BI continues encouraging MSMEs to go digital through three main strategies, the first one being e-farming through digital farming to increase productivity and efficiency.Followed by e-commerce through MSME onboarding to expand digital market access, and e-financing through the Financial Information Recording Application Information System (SIAPIK) to strengthen financial reporting and access to financing.BI continues to strengthen these efforts, including through the development of the Indonesian Digital Innovation Center (PIDI), which connects talent, innovators, industry, government, and strategic partners to produce relevant digital solutions to be implemented in the real sector, including MSMEs.According to Filianingsih, PIDI represents the synergy between BI, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and strategic partners in accelerating innovation and the development of national digital talent. While for MSMEs, PIDI facilitates the development of easily adoptable and replicable digital solutions to enhance productivity, improve efficiency, and widen access to markets and financing. On Friday, BI held an Innovation Talk titled “Accelerating MSME Digital Transformation: Integrating Digital Innovation Towards Leveling Up MSMEs” as part of the 2026 Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) series. In this event, speakers shared their perspectives and experiences on utilizing digital innovation to improve business performance, expand markets, open access to financing, and encourage MSMEs to advance. The discussion also emphasized the importance of utilizing digital data for MSMEs by the banking industry and strengthening digital MSMEs records to improve efficiency, governance, and access to financing.Through stronger synergies with stakeholders and the spirit of Beudaya MeusareSare (Empowering Together), BI will accelerate MSME digital transformation to help businesses become more adaptive, innovative, and competitive while supporting their growth as a driver of Indonesia’s future economy.
