Jakarta (ANTARA) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions (Sekjen Kemendes PDT), Taufik Madjid, stated that the Integrated Village Economic Transformation Program (TEKAD) aims, among other goals, to accelerate inclusive economic growth.“It is hoped that the TEKAD program will stimulate faster development so that villages classified as underdeveloped and very underdeveloped can transform into advanced and self-reliant villages,” Taufik said, as quoted in a statement received here on Saturday. He made the remarks while opening the National Workshop on Building Government Commitment for TEKAD Program Targets 2025 in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Friday evening.Taufik further explained that TEKAD is one of many government programs designed to ensure equitable development across eastern Indonesia. He added that there are still nearly eleven thousand villages categorized as underdeveloped and very underdeveloped, most of which are located in eastern regions of the country. He also noted that the TEKAD program is designed to increase household income by leveraging the potential and resources available in each village.Taufik emphasized that the TEKAD program aligns with the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029 formulated by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) under the vision of President Prabowo Subianto.According to him, the RPJMN outlines three key priorities: combating poverty in villages, accelerating economic growth, and improving human resource quality.“These three priorities must become an integral part of various policies and programs that reach the villages. TEKAD is a series of initiatives designed to respond to the directives outlined in the RPJMN 2025–2029,” Taufik said.In the same event, Yumi Sakata, Country Programme Officer for IFAD Indonesia, stated that TEKAD is an innovative and crucial program aimed at improving the welfare of rural communities and driving transformational growth in eastern Indonesia. She noted that the main target of the TEKAD program includes over one thousand villages, reaching 150,000 households and benefiting more than one million people in the program areas.
