Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the 26th Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (INACRAFT) 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on Wednesday.According to an official statement, the visit reflected the Indonesian government’s commitment to encouraging MSME artisans to upgrade their capabilities and penetrate global markets through improved product quality and innovation.In line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive positioning MSMEs as the backbone of the national economy, the government continues to strengthen the creative industry ecosystem to increase value added, expand employment opportunities and boost the contribution of local products in international markets.INACRAFT is regarded as a strategic platform for connecting artisans with market networks, financing opportunities and global promotion channels.During the visit, the vice president toured a number of exhibition booths showcasing a wide range of handicraft products, including batik, fashion items, accessories, decorative goods and household products.Gibran was also seen purchasing a calligraphy painting created by a local artisan, as a gesture of appreciation for the creativity and quality of domestically produced handicrafts.He encouraged artisans to continue enhancing their competitiveness in both national and international markets by improving quality, innovation and product diversification.At the same time, Gibran stressed the importance of preserving identity and deeply rooted traditional values as the main strength of Indonesian handicrafts on the global stage.While touring the exhibition area, the vice president also took time to greet visitors. His warm interactions and smiles were met with an enthusiastic response from the public, with many shaking hands and taking photos with him.During the visit, Gibran was also welcomed by renowned designer Anne Avantie at her booth. She introduced various innovative products, covering not only fashion but also the development of food and beverage products as part of efforts to expand the creative business ecosystem.INACRAFT has long served as a important partner of the government in promoting the development of competitive, distinctive and globally oriented Indonesian handicrafts. The exhibition also functions as a platform for promotion, networking and collaboration for MSME players from across the country to expand market access and increase product value.
