Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) – Malaysian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamad Hasan will lead the country's delegation to the 17th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting between Indonesia and Malaysia, which is scheduled to take place in Jakarta on June 4, 2026.According to a press statement from the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry received on Wednesday, the 17th JCBC will prioritize efforts to strengthen Indonesia-Malaysia economic cooperation and enhance the resilience of both countries' economies amid growing disruptions to global supply chains.The forum will be co-chaired by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Minister Hasan, who will be accompanied by senior officials from a number of Malaysian institutions.Malaysia is expected to focus discussions on joint practical measures to mitigate the impact of external shocks on trade flows, energy security, food supplies, and the availability of strategic raw materials for industry.The 17th JCBC will also follow up on decisions reached by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the President of Indonesia during the 13th Annual Consultation, which was held in Jakarta on July 29, 2025.Prior to the ministerial meeting, a Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) was convened to prepare the agenda and review progress on bilateral cooperation.The 17th JCBC will place particular emphasis on trade and investment facilitation, cross-border supply chain connectivity, energy cooperation, and food security to address global supply chain disruptions.In addition, Indonesia and Malaysia will discuss maritime boundary delimitation and land boundary demarcation, cross-border trade and migration, cooperation in the halal industry, defense and security, environmental management, and disaster mitigation, as well as other issues of mutual interest.The 17th JCBC serves as a follow up to the 13th Annual Consultation between the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Indonesian President held in Jakarta on July 29, 2025.The JCBC is also expected to shape the agenda for the 14th Annual Consultation, which will be hosted by Malaysia later this year.
