Prabowo meets Turkish FM to discuss Middle East stability

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday to discuss various issues, ranging from world peace to regional and global dynamics.An official statement from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Wednesday stated that the meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the strong friendship and strategic partnership between Indonesia and Turkiye.Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan visited Indonesia at President Prabowo’s invitation, reflecting both countries’ commitment to enhancing communication and coordination while deepening bilateral ties amid ongoing regional and global developments.During the meeting, Prabowo specifically expressed his appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish Government for their support and cooperation in the repatriation of nine Indonesian citizens who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission.Prabowo assessed that Turkiye's support for the humanitarian mission reflects the strong friendship between the two countries and demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity.Both of them also exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East. The discussion covered various regional dynamics of global concern, particularly the conditions in Iran and Palestine.As fellow countries in the Global South, Indonesia and Turkiye share a view on the importance of maintaining regional stability through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution.Both sides agreed to continue strengthening coordination to encourage de-escalation efforts in the various conflicts in the Middle East.Furthermore, Indonesia and Turkiye also reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue fighting for justice for the Palestinian people.The meeting between President Prabowo and Foreign Minister Fidan reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Turkiye, which has existed for a long time in various fields.Amid increasingly complex global challenges, both countries demonstrated their commitment to continuing to work together to promote stability, peace, and humanitarian values at the international level.
