Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) – Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said graduates of the government's tuition-free schools under the Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program will be directed toward two pathways: pursuing higher education or becoming skilled workers.During a visit to Bandung, West Java, on Thursday, Saifullah said the policy follows directions from President Prabowo Subianto to ensure every Sekolah Rakyat graduate has the opportunity to develop their potential according to their respective abilities.He stated that determining a student's educational or career path will not be based on academic tests, but rather through talent and potential mapping conducted from the beginning of their schooling.”There are no academic tests. Instead, we use an AI-based DNA Talent test. Every child is valuable, and we look for their talents and intelligence as part of multiple intelligences,” Saifullah said.According to him, the results of this mapping will serve as a baseline for teachers to guide students toward fields that match their potential, whether for pursuing higher education or entering the workforce.In addition, he noted that Sekolah Rakyat schools also provide students with foreign language skills that align with their interests.Furthermore, students interested in the tourism sector will be guided to pursue higher education under the Ministry of Tourism, with scholarships provided through a partnership between the two ministries.On that occasion, Saifullah noted that Sekolah Rakyat is intended for children from vulnerable families recorded in the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN)—particularly those who have dropped out of school, are at risk of dropping out, are out of school, or have not enrolled at the appropriate age.Following the initiative's rollout in mid-2025, the Indonesian government aims to have 500 Sekolah Rakyat schools operational by 2029.
