Jakarta (ANTARA) – Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Destry Damayanti assured the public that the central bank remains committed to delivering optimal services after Perry Warjiyo resigned as governor, emphasizing its collective leadership model.She said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday that five members of the Board of Governors would sustain BI’s functions.“When it comes to leadership, Bank Indonesia is a collegial body. Therefore, the five of us here will continue to collectively carry out the duty and mandate entrusted to Bank Indonesia,” Damayanti remarked.She underlined that the central bank operates on a strong decision-making foundation, stressing that the Board of Governors will continue to play a decisive role.On that note, she guaranteed that the central bank would continue adhering to established mechanisms and international best practices in serving the nation.“Bank Indonesia will always safeguard its duty and authority to achieve stable exchange rates for the rupiah, maintain the stability of payment systems, and contribute to keeping the financial sector stable,” Damayanti affirmed.The acting governor emphasized that BI remains determined to support efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment for sustainable economic growth and job creation.She also explained that Warjiyo stepped down from leadership for personal reasons, noting that the board had appointed her to lead the central bank while awaiting the election of a definitive governor.On the same occasion, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto had approved the resignation and would soon issue a decree formalizing the process.He added that the president has yet to nominate a candidate for governor, stressing that Damayanti will continue to assume leadership for the time being.Hadi also assured continued coordination between the government and BI to strengthen Indonesia’s economic and financial systems.“BI is tasked with monetary affairs, while the government through the Finance Ministry is responsible for overseeing fiscal matters,” he said.
