Jakarta (ANTARA) – Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has resigned from his position, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi announced in Jakarta on Monday morning.”As of yesterday, we officially received a letter of resignation from the Governor of BI to the President,” Hadi said at the Bank Indonesia headquarters, accompanied by members of the BI Board of Governors.”In accordance with applicable mechanisms and laws, particularly the Bank Indonesia Law, the President has accepted Mr. Perry Warjiyo's resignation, expressing his deepest gratitude and appreciation for his dedication over the past seven years,” he said.Perry Warjiyo is a senior economist who had a long and distinguished career at the central bank, culminating in his tenure as the 16th Governor of Bank Indonesia for two terms (2018–2023 and 2023–2028) before resigning on July 27, 2026.Following his resignation, Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti was appointed as Acting Governor to lead the central bank until a definitive governor is elected.
