Indonesian energy revenues will surpass target, minister says

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has said that non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the mineral, coal, oil, and gas sectors will exceed target projections by the end of the year.”PNBP from both the mineral and coal sector and the oil and gas sector will definitely exceed 100 percent by the end of the year. I guarantee it will be higher,” Lahadalia said in Jakarta on Tuesday during a meeting with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. As of July, the ESDM Ministry's PNBP had reached Rp96.26 trillion ($6.1 billion), or 70.69 percent of its full-year 2026 target of Rp136.18 trillion.According to Lahadalia, the Finance Ministry and the ESDM Ministry maintain a close working relationship, with ESDM focused on strengthening state revenue lines.”These are two ministries with a close working relationship. I handle the PNBP side, while Minister Sadewa handles revenue growth,” he said.At the same event, Finance Minister Sadewa urged the ESDM Ministry to push its PNBP realization beyond the 100 percent mark.He noted that tax revenue growth as of July 31, 2026, had reached 23 percent year-on-year—a figure he considered stable. “So it is still relatively safe, growth of more than 23 percent,” Sadewa said, without disclosing the total nominal value.Finance Ministry data shows total state revenue realization as of June 30 reached Rp1,459.4 trillion, representing 46.3 percent of the 2026 state budget (APBN) target and marking a 21.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. That performance was primarily driven by tax revenue, which reached Rp1,035.7 trillion (up 24.6 percent year-on-year), customs and excise revenue at Rp152.0 trillion (up 3.4 percent), and total non-tax revenue at Rp271.0 trillion (up 21.6 percent).
