Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) – Governor of Bali Wayan Koster received a visit from Governor of Siquijor, Philippines, Jake Vincent Sarmiento Villa, during which he shared Bali’s tourism strategies.“Culture, nature, and the hospitality of the people are the main strengths of Bali’s tourism that must continue to be preserved and protected,” Koster said in a statement received here on Tuesday.He said building tourism based on culture, natural beauty, and community hospitality is a key asset that other regions do not have and therefore must be safeguarded.Koster added the Bali Provincial Government has strengthened its commitment to environmental protection through various strategic policies, including restrictions on single-use plastics to reduce pollution.The provincial government has also implemented source-based waste management to create a more effective and sustainable system.“This policy is part of efforts to keep Bali’s nature clean, healthy, and sustainable. Environmental preservation is a priority because Bali’s nature is an important asset for both the community and the tourism sector,” he said.A strong cultural identity also remains a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists, with traditions, customs, arts, and local wisdom offering unique experiences.Koster expressed hope the meeting would go beyond tourism exchange and open opportunities for cooperation in tourism, culture, and human resource development.Governor of Siquijor, Jake Vincent Sarmiento Villa, said his visit aimed to learn how Bali developed into one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.He noted Bali’s strong appeal and its ability to maintain its status as an international tourism hub.He added that Bali’s success is driven by its culture, natural beauty, and strong community support in preserving local identity, which could serve as a reference for Siquijor.During the meeting, both governors exchanged data and statistics on tourism and regional development.
