Banjarmasin (ANTARA) – Bank Indonesia linked 15 strategic projects worth Rp62.13 trillion (US$3.8 billion) with 20 domestic and foreign investors at the Pamor Borneo 2026 Investment Forum, producing 12 preliminary investment agreements, an official said on Friday.Haris Munandar, head of Bank Indonesia's South Kalimantan Representative Office, said the forum connected project owners with prospective investors through seminars and business matching sessions to explore opportunities and address barriers delaying project implementation.”A total of 15 strategic projects worth Rp62.13 trillion (US$3.8 billion) were presented at the forum,” Munandar said. Twenty investors held business meetings with project owners, resulting in 12 Letters of Intent as an initial follow-up to investment negotiations.Bank Indonesia acted as a facilitator, connecting project owners with prospective investors to support negotiations and accelerate investment. The projects originated in South Kalimantan and other provinces across the island of Kalimantan, he said. The largest project offered was a coal downstream processing plant producing methanol in Tapin district, South Kalimantan, requiring investment of about Rp46.17 trillion (US$2.8 billion), Munandar said.Other major projects included the Kusan Hydroelectric Power Plant in Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan, valued at Rp2.6 trillion (US$159 million), and the Margasari Baru Port development in Tapin District worth Rp1.69 trillion (US$104 million). The forum also promoted an oleochemical industry project in the Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan Special Economic Zone in East Kutai, East Kalimantan, valued at Rp8.6 trillion (US$528 million), and the Sepaku Semoi Drinking Water Supply System in Balikpapan worth Rp2.15 trillion (US$132 million).Additional opportunities included a waste-to-energy project in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, worth Rp780 billion (US$48 million), and a vannamei shrimp farming project in Sukamara, Central Kalimantan, valued at Rp140 billion (US$8.6 million).Munandar said resolving investment bottlenecks was essential to speeding project implementation because investment creates jobs, stimulates economic activity, strengthens downstream industries and generates higher value-added output across Kalimantan. He said Bank Indonesia expects the 12 Letters of Intent signed at the forum to lead to project implementation, supporting Kalimantan's transformation into a competitive, diversified and sustainable economic hub and one of Indonesia's national growth centers.
