Danantara to drive AI adoption across state-owned enterprises

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia's sovereign investment agency Danantara will prioritize artificial intelligence adoption in the third year of a five-year roadmap to transform state-owned enterprises, Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria said. The AI initiative is part of a broader transformation strategy being prepared jointly by Danantara and the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Agency, known as BP BUMN.”The third year will focus on innovation and the adoption of AI technologies,” Dony told reporters at the Finance Ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday. His remarks outlined the latest framework for a five-year restructuring plan aimed at improving the performance and competitiveness of Indonesia's state-owned companies. The first year of the roadmap will focus on consolidating and restructuring state-owned enterprises to strengthen their financial and operational foundations. The second year will shift toward developing talent and strengthening corporate culture after the consolidation phase is completed, Dony said.”Following consolidation, the second year's priority will be talent development and corporate culture,” he said. The third year will emphasize innovation, digital transformation and broader adoption of AI across state-owned enterprises to improve efficiency and competitiveness. In the fourth year, Danantara will focus on value creation, including evaluating strategic partnerships, initial public offerings and businesses that should remain privately held. Those decisions will be made in coordination with Indonesia's Finance Ministry as part of efforts to optimize returns from the state-owned enterprise portfolio, Dony said. The fifth and final year will target stronger financial performance, supported by annual profit goals aligned with the agency's long-term strategic vision.”We will begin with vision and mission development, then establish annual performance and profit targets to measure progress,” Dony said.Danantara and BP BUMN are finalizing the roadmap as a blueprint to create healthier, more competitive and value-driven state-owned enterprises. The strategy is designed to accelerate reforms across business fundamentals, talent development, technology adoption and global competitiveness. The government ultimately aims to build Indonesian state-owned companies capable of competing internationally, with some expected to join the ranks of the Fortune 500.
