Energy Minister joins Prabowo in Russia to secure oil supply

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia is accompanying President Prabowo Subianto on his visit to Russia to secure national energy supplies, particularly oil.”This working visit is a continuation of the partnership between the two nations. For Indonesia, it focuses on long-term national energy security,” Energy Ministry spokesperson Dwi Anggia said in a statement confirmed on Monday.She said the minister's presence highlights the strategic role of the energy sector in supporting national interests amid global dynamics.She added that the meeting offers momentum to expand more concrete cooperation.President Prabowo is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday.Earlier, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said one of the main agenda items is continuing energy cooperation, including ensuring stable national energy supplies, particularly oil.He noted that the discussion is increasingly relevant amid geopolitical shifts and changes in the global energy landscape affecting supply and demand.Beyond energy, the two leaders will also exchange views on global geopolitical developments, with Indonesia reaffirming its commitment to global stability and peace.President Prabowo departed for Russia on Sunday night from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta, accompanied by Bahlil, Teddy, and Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono.The Energy Ministry views the visit as a strategic step to strengthen cross-border energy cooperation and support sustainable national energy security amid global uncertainty.
