Gov’t prepares incentives for writers, transportation discounts

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government has prepared an economic stimulus package that includes a final Income Tax (PPh) incentive for writers, transport ticket discounts, and the continuation of the national internship program.Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto detailed that the government has decided to provide a 1.5-percent final PPh incentive for the writer profession.”We have decided to provide tax incentives for writers. A final PPh of 1.5 percent is granted, since this was a campaign promise of the President,” Hartarto said when met at his office here on Tuesday.In addition, the government has poured various stimuli into the transportation sector, including transport and air ticket discounts during the school holiday period as well as the Christmas and New Year festive period.For train, sea transport, and ferry ticket discounts during the school holiday period, the government has prepared a budget of Rp190.5 billion or around US$10.7 million, with the target number of beneficiaries reaching 3,074,889 people.Meanwhile, the incentive budget for the year-end holiday reaches Rp161.4 billion or around US$9 million, targeting 2,874,381 beneficiaries.In the air transportation sector, the government has provided a 30-percent discount on economy class flight tickets through the Government-Borne Value Added Tax (PPN DTP) scheme.The government has also set aside Rp472.7 billion or around US$26.5 million to discount flight tickets for 2.3 million passengers during the school break. Meanwhile, the incentive budget for the Christmas-New Year holiday increases to Rp722 billion or around US$40.5 million, with a target of 3.7 million passengers.Furthermore, the government is also continuing the National Internship Program. Hartarto stated that batch IV, which will commence in July 2026, targets 150 thousand participants with a budget of Rp4.14 trillion or around US$232.7 million.In addition, there is also a national work skill program targeting 220 thousand vocational high school (SMK) graduates and 50 thousand workers affected by layoffs. The program is supported by a budget of Rp2.12 trillion or around US$119.1 million.”All of this is expected to serve as a stimulus in the second quarter,” he said.
