Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration has taken action against two Dutch nationals who organized a foreigner-only running club in Bali, citing discriminatory practices against local citizens.Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko said Friday that the two foreign nationals were identified as the primary organizers of the “Entourage Run” club in Canggu, Badung Regency, which barred Indonesians from participating.”There should not be a state within a state. We consider this running club to be functioning as a 'state within a state',” Marantoko said during a press conference in Jakarta.Authorities identified the two men by their initials: JAS, 35, a holder of a work-based limited stay permit (KITAS); and HQV, 37, who holds an investor KITAS.Marantoko said that the duo violated immigration laws by organizing an event in Indonesia without the required permits.”We are aware that both foreigners have left Indonesian territory, and we have decided to place them on a re-entry ban,” Marantoko said, noting that they departed for Singapore from Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Wednesday evening.In addition to blacklisting the two individuals, Marantoko instructed the Bali Immigration Office to investigate the event organizers further and take legal action against any other parties found to have violated immigration regulations.The controversy erupted after social media posts alleged the “Entourage Run” club explicitly excluded locals. A 23-year-old Indonesian woman posted that she was denied entry to a run after informing organizers of her nationality.The incident sparked widespread public backlash online. Balinese Senator Ni Luh Djelantik subsequently filed a formal complaint with provincial immigration authorities and local police.
