Jakarta (ANTARA) – Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed the release of all nine Indonesians who had been detained by Israeli forces during the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission.”The nine Indonesian citizens who were arrested by the Israeli military during the interception of ships and the arrest of volunteers from the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 are currently en route from Israel to Istanbul, Turkey,” Sugiono said in a press statement on Thursday.Sugiono stated that the release of the Indonesian volunteers was the result of hard work and close coordination between the Indonesian government and various parties.”The government will continue to oversee this repatriation process until all Indonesian citizens return home safely,” he added.During the rescue process, Indonesia has been using all available diplomatic channels through its embassies in Ankara, Cairo, Rome, Amman, and Istanbul, according to him.Active communication with international authorities and partners, particularly the Turkish government, is also being pursued to ensure the safety and release of all Indonesians detained by Israel.”Indonesia expresses its deepest appreciation to the Turkish government for its active role and full support in facilitating this repatriation process,” Sugiono noted.The Gaza flotilla volunteers were confirmed on Thursday to have been released from prison in Israel after their ships were ambushed by Israeli forces earlier this week.It was reported that they were in the process of being deported and repatriated out of Israel to Turkey.
