Indonesia reaffirms industrial transformation push at BRICS forum

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating industrial transformation through stronger cooperation at the 2026 BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) in Xiamen, China, the Industry Ministry said.Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said Indonesia views global industrial transformation as an opportunity that should be addressed through stronger cooperation and the development of future industrial technologies.”Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation in facing global industrial transformation through the development of smart technologies, future industrial standards, and industrial human resources,” Agus said in a statement issued on Tuesday.The minister said the theme of the 2026 BRICS PartNIR Forum was aligned with ongoing global industrial transformation.Advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, the industrial internet, and big data-based digital systems have significantly changed global manufacturing, affecting production processes, supply chains, and industrial competitiveness.For Indonesia, strengthening the smart manufacturing ecosystem is essential for maintaining industrial resilience and increasing economic value added.The effort is in line with the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, which promotes industrial transformation through digitalization, green industry development, downstreaming, and the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies.Meanwhile, Industry Ministry Director General for Industrial Resilience, Regionalization, and International Industrial Access Tri Supondy underscored the importance of BRICS PartNIR as a platform for cooperation among developing countries.”Indonesia views BRICS PartNIR as an important platform to strengthen policy dialogue, technological cooperation, industrial partnerships, and capacity building among developing countries,” he said.Tri noted that the forum provides opportunities to strengthen industrial partnerships, expand technology collaboration, and build national industrial capacity amid the accelerating new industrial revolution.He said cooperation among developing countries plays an important role in fostering more inclusive and sustainable industrial growth through technology development, industrial innovation, and human resource improvement.At the forum, Indonesia highlighted three priorities for future industrial development: digitalization and smart factory development, green industrial transformation based on clean energy, and strengthening industrial innovation and workforce competence.The ministry considers these three areas key foundations for building an adaptive and globally competitive manufacturing sector.Indonesia's participation in the forum was further strengthened by the qualification of eight national teams for the 2026 BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest Global Final.
