Indonesia secures $17 million potential deals at Gamescom 2025

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade has reported that the Indonesian Pavilion at Gamescom 2025 generated potential transactions worth up to US$17.07 million during the gaming exhibition in Cologne, Germany, on August 20–22.Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the achievement highlights the competitiveness of Indonesia’s gaming industry and could significantly contribute to its growth.”If realized, this potential could boost the revenue of the local gaming industry by around 40 percent. Last year, the industry generated Rp700 billion (approximately US$45.3 million),” Santoso said in a statement on Tuesday.According to the ministry, the potential transactions came mainly from game development services and other intellectual property (IP) subsectors.Santoso noted that Indonesia’s participation in Gamescom is part of the government’s strategy to expand the market for local game developers and IP owners while fostering a more innovative and competitive gaming ecosystem at home.”The global market for game development services offers huge opportunities for Indonesian players to grow,” he added.The ministry said that during the three-day event, more than 500 companies, project owners, and publishers visited the Indonesian Pavilion. Visitors came from Germany, the United States, France, Japan, the Netherlands, China, and the United Kingdom.Data from Euromonitor International shows that Indonesia’s exports of game development services, animation, and digital content reached US$1.33 billion in 2024.
