Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the domestic manufacturing industry is the main powerhouse for the national economy, considering its large contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) and significant added value creation. He made this statement while holding a Ministerial Lecture with the theme of National Industrial Development Strategy, here on Tuesday. The activity is part of a series of Technical Competency Strengthening in the Field of Duties (PKTBT) for Prospective Civil Servants (CPNS) within the Ministry of Industry. The Ministerial Lecture provides initial training for CPNS to understand the basic values for Civil Servants (ASN), knowledge regarding the duties and functions of their position, and the substance of the Ministry’s organization.Through this activity, CPNS are also given basic knowledge regarding the direction of national industrial strategy policies to strengthen their role as people who develop the domestic industrial sector. The minister stated that by 2024, Indonesia’s manufacturing value added (MVA) had reached US$265.07 billion, placing Indonesia in 13th place as the country with the highest MVA value.Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2025, the non-oil and gas manufacturing industry recorded year-on-year (YoY) growth of 5.60 percent. This figure is higher than the growth rate of 5.12 percent for the economy. The national industry also recorded a contribution of 16.93 percent to GDP.”The industrial sector is not only a major contributor to national economic growth, but also absorbs a large workforce and has a multiplier effect that drives growth in various other sectors,” said the minister. As a driving force for growth, the Ministry of Industry has prepared a Draft Amendment to the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) that supports the transformation of the industrial sector. The draft prioritizes industrial downstreaming, the development and utilization of industrial technology, the development of green industries, and the strengthening of competency-based industrial human resources in line with industrial needs. These priorities are formulated as an important foundation in realizing Astacita (eight priority goals of the government) which were initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to realize Golden Indonesia 2045.Kartasasmita said the development of the national industrial sector also faces various challenges that hit global conditions. To address these challenges, the Ministry of Industry initiated the New National Industrialization Strategy (SBIN) as a framework that will lead to the transformation of a national industry that is independent and competitive.”SBIN will create industrial development oriented towards shaping a more independent, highly competitive, and people-centered future for the nation,” said the minister. The ministry has also established six priority programs for the next five years, which are outlined in a more operational strategic framework to achieve the President’s Astacita. These priority programs include industrial downstreaming and raw material provision, infrastructure development and industrial area facilitation, strengthening domestic industry, industrial technology and modernization, human resource development for the industrial sector, and Net Zero Emission in the industrial sector.Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Eko Cahyanto in his report also stated the implementation of the Ministerial Lecture and PKTBT is a process of forming civil servants who have integrity, are honest, nationalistic, superior and responsible, and professional.”This activity not only provides technical knowledge related to the industrial sector, but we also hope it will foster enthusiasm and motivation among civil servant candidates to make real contributions in their service,” he said.During the recruitment process, the Ministry of Industry has accepted 832 candidates. Five of these candidates are for positions for people with disabilities. With various educational backgrounds, the Ministry of Industry this year welcomed 61 polytechnic graduates and one vocational high school graduate managed by the ministry.”We are proud to announce that this year we accepted five civil servants from the disability formation who joined the Ministry of Industry,” he said.”This is part of our concrete efforts to create an inclusive and equitable work environment, providing equal opportunities for all generations of the nation to contribute to national industrial development,” Cahyanto added.
