Jakarta (ANTARA) – Trade Minister Budi Santoso has met sellers and marketplace operators to seek a fair solution for platforms, merchants and consumers within Indonesia’s e-commerce ecosystem.Santoso said the discussions were expected to provide input for mutually beneficial policies and stronger cooperation among stakeholders.“We cannot solve the issues instantly. All input has been accommodated, and we expect a shared commitment to build a fair e-commerce ecosystem,” Santoso said in a statement on Wednesday.Seller representatives were given an opportunity to explain obstacles they faced while operating on e-commerce platforms, including complaints related to platform policies and services.Santoso said the meeting identified various issues affecting merchants across digital marketplaces. He said the issues would be addressed through revisions to Trade Ministry Regulation No. 31 of 2023 governing licensing, advertising, guidance and supervision of e-commerce businesses. The minister also proposed a joint action plan to support implementation of the revised regulation once finalized.“We hope stakeholders can work together to formulate an action plan for implementing the revised regulation,” he said.Santoso added that the revision process had entered the final stage of regulatory harmonization.According to him, representatives from marketplace platforms and sellers were involved in drafting the revised regulation. The revised regulation includes provisions related to protecting local products and improving transparency on digital commerce platforms.“We want local products to grow. If local products become more competitive and maintain good quality, we can better control imports,” Santoso said.
