Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia's Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) is continuing efforts to strengthen governance and legal certainty in the implementation of national housing programs.Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait emphasized that successful housing development programs must be supported by good governance and compliance with prevailing regulations.”Good intentions must be accompanied by good governance. Therefore, we came here to consult with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) regarding regulations and legal certainty in implementing the ministry's housing programs,” he said in a statement on Thursday. As part of the effort, Maruarar met with officials of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).The meeting discussed governance, regulations, and legal certainty related to housing programs that are currently underway or planned by the ministry. The two sides also discussed several strategic issues related to the housing sector.Maruarar said legal certainty and strong governance from the planning stage through implementation are the main foundations for housing programs that have a broad impact on the public.”We came here to seek clarification regarding the legal certainty of our programs. Once everything is in order, the programs can proceed safely and in accordance with the regulations,” he said. One of the main topics discussed was the government's roof tile assistance program. The ministry sought BPKP's input on governance, regulations, the application of Indonesian National Standards (SNI), and product reliability requirements.Roof tile assistance has been distributed in several regions, including East Java, West Java, and Central Java. However, the number of producers that meet SNI standards remains limited. The ministry also sought BPKP's views on the possibility of continuing the program while awaiting a wider supply of SNI-compliant products. The meeting further discussed the utilization of budget savings generated through public tenders. The ministry proposed that the savings be redirected to provide additional building materials that directly benefit the public.Other issues included governance and regulations for the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program, apartment development, special housing projects, and the delegation of personnel and administrative authorities.BPKP Head Muhammad Yusuf Ateh said the agency would follow up through further studies and assessments of relevant governance and regulatory aspects.”Projects like these require breakthroughs for large-scale programs, including the roof tile initiative. At the same time, prudence remains important to prevent violations and irregularities. Therefore, we will follow up on the program's governance aspects,” he said.
