Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Navy, through the Sea Combat Task Force (Guspurla) of Fleet Command I, conducted an integrated combat exercise in the Singapore Strait, reaffirming its commitment to national maritime sovereignty and security. The exercise involved operational control elements (BKO), including KRI Surik-645 and patrol aircraft P-8203, to strengthen coordination between naval and air operations in the strategic border region.“The drill focused on enhancing combat readiness and soldier professionalism amid high maritime security dynamics in the international shipping lane of the Singapore Strait,” Fleet Command I Task Force Commander First Admiral Nurlan said Monday evening in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between warships and maritime patrol aircraft to ensure effective surveillance and rapid response against potential threats at sea.The exercise, conducted systematically since Sunday (March 1), began with communication checks to ensure seamless coordination, followed by air joining procedures (AJP) for integrating aircraft into the task force convoy.Air defense drills, including the 320 exercise scenario for tracking aircraft, were carried out as part of a layered defense simulation. All activities proceeded safely and according to plan.Strong coordination between sea and air elements demonstrated BKO Guspurla Fleet Command I’s operational readiness for joint missions.“Evaluations were conducted at each stage to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement,” Nurlan said.He stressed the importance of consistent exercises in operational areas while prioritizing the safety of personnel and equipment. This emphasis aligns with Fleet Command I leadership directives that all units conduct drills within the same patrol sectors and perform post-exercise evaluations to maintain optimal combat readiness.
